Job Title: Design & Technical Engineer
Location: Bolton
Salary: £33,000 to £37,000 per annum (dependant on experience)
Job Type: Full time, Permanent, Site based
Working Hours: Mon-Thurs 07:30 to 16:00/Fri 07:30 to 12:50 (38 hours)

About the Role:
Reporting to the Technical & Design Manager, this role will be responsible for designing and specifying products that meet the needs of our wide range of customers. Working closely and providing key information to the production team; technical and costing support to the sales team, working with colleagues across our and the and global group business in following new product development processes will be core to the role.
Main duties
- Provide technical & design engineering support to Sales.
- Calculate direct cost of manufactured products ready for quoting.
- Create manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks
- Update and produce manufacturing data, BOM’s & routes ready for production planning.
- Maintain records of drawings, documents & key paperwork.
- New product development and assisting these into production along with SOP’s.
- Aligning and following standard NPD processes across group businesses
- Identify potential suppliers of new parts & materials.
- Work closely with production engineering, quality & production to maximise efficiency.
- Undertake project work to drive continual improvement through the business
- Undertake other reasonable tasks as requested by the Senior Industrial Engineer & OP’s Manager
- Liaising with customers on new and existing products
Note: Training will be provided on current systems to assist with main duties above, i.e. BOM’s, record archiving and NPD processes.

Experience:
Essential knowledge and experience:
- Good Computer Skills including MS Office
- Competent in Solid Works for producing 3D models & drawings
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a similar technical based role
- Experience of project work & managing multiple projects at one time
- Experience of working in a customer facing role
- Ability to work to deadlines
Desirable knowledge and experience:
- 5S experience.
- Lean Manufacturing & Design experience.
- ISO 9001 experience
- Experience in the heating element industry would be an advantage
Education and training:
- HND or Degree qualified in a suitable engineering, Technical or Mechanical discipline.
- 1st. class written and oral communication skills.
